Cycle Oregon is proud to announce the return and expansion of its Summer Kids Bike Camp for the summer. Following a successful pilot in 2025, the program is growing to serve three Oregon communities—Portland, Hillsboro, and Bend—providing kids ages 8–12 with the skills and confidence to navigate on two wheels.
At a time when childhood independence is declining and fewer children are biking to school, Cycle Oregon’s Summer Kids Camp aims to reverse the trend. Led by the experienced team behind the statewide Jump Start bicycle education program, the camp transforms young riders into confident bike commuters through a curriculum focused on safety, wayfinding, and real-world riding.
2026 Camp Highlights:
- Comprehensive Skill Building: Daily instruction includes shifting, hand braking, signaling, and group riding techniques.
- Real-World Application: Campers apply their skills on supervised rides to local parks, picnics, and playgrounds, utilizing bike lanes and infrastructure.
- Inclusive Access: The Cycle Oregon Foundation provides scholarships (covering 50% to 100% of tuition) to ensure the program is accessible to families from all backgrounds.
- Gear Included: To remove barriers to entry, loaner bikes and helmets are available to all campers at no additional cost.
2026 Schedule & Locations:
- Hillsboro: June 22–26
- Bend: July 6–10, July 27–31, and August 17–21 (In partnership with R.A.D. Camps)
- Portland: July 13–17 and August 3–7
