Trickster
Trickster is about to shake up Silver Moon. The new community band aims to get the crowd singing and dancing on April 11. Trickster is a mix of local talent who share an interest in furthering the American Roots Music Tradition. They play music honoring and inspired by musical greats like Janis Joplin, Jerry Garcia, Bob Dylan, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Bob Dylan and more.
Promotional material for the band says, โThis path leads all the way back to our ancestors โ to their old-world and indigenous wisdom and even to an enchanted experience of โMusic herself,โ as Victor Wooten maintains. Many greats like Oteil Burbridge, Kenny Werner, John Batiste, Derek Trucks, and Mickey Hart (to name a few) insist that immersion in this ritual allows the ancestors to play though us.โ

Tricksters is comprised of Mark Ransom on guitars/vocals, Mai Hyman on banjo, dobro, guitars/vocals, Wendi Wampler on clarinet, Mike Beaulieu on basses. Laura Fieberg on vocals, Jen Lande guitar/vocals, Dylan Bernal on drums and Kent Howes on percussion/vocals.
Ransom, who holds a Ph.D. in depth psychology, maintains that for every effort made in the therapy room an equal or greater one needs to be made engaging the collective. In a press release, he says, “appreciating the beauty of different styles of music, we learn to tolerate different perspectives we might otherwise fear and resist. We can even become attracted to what is different.”
As for the name, in mythology, a Trickster is a character who exhibits a great degree of intellect or secret knowledge and uses it to play tricks or disobey normal rules and conventions. The Trickster is present in all forms of communication. His style is youthful, playful and contrary โlike any self-respecting rock ‘n’ roller.
