The Deschutes Trails Coalition, in partnership with several of their trail work partners in Central Oregon, are hosting a “Trails on Tap” event to garner interest from prospective volunteers and grow community awareness about what happens behind the scene to maintain the vast all-season trail network we boast in our region. The event will take place on Wednesday April 29th from 5-7p at Bend Brewing Company in Bend. Attendees are invited to come learn about volunteer opportunities and ways to steward their Public Lands in Central Oregon in a casual and laid back environment.

“As land management agencies continue to face limited funding and staffing capacity to support trail maintenance, development and improvements, the need for volunteers is greater than ever” said DTC Executive Director, Jana Johnson. “This is a moment for the community to step up and steward their favorite recreation trails, so if you’ve ever considered volunteering, even a few hours a month can have an incredibly positive impact to all users. If you are passionate about XC skiing, horseback riding, mountain biking, trail running, riding dirt bikes or one of the many other ways to enjoy our forest, we have a place for you among our many partner groups and their varied trail experiences.”

Participating organizations include: The Deschutes Trails Coalition, Sawyers With Attitude To Spare, Sisters Trail Alliance, Oregon Equestrian Trails, Friends of Central Cascades Wilderness, Central Oregon Nordic Club, Central Oregon Running Klub, Bend Parks and Recreation District, Central Oregon Trail Alliance, DogPac, Public Land Stewards, Onward Project and Tread Lightly.
