On Tuesday, April 28, Redmond City Council approved the 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Action Plan, as recommended by Housing and Community Development Committee.  The plan helps to address a wide range of community housing and facility needs through CDBG grants administration. Redmond is receiving $257,912 in CDBG entitlement for fiscal year 2026/27. The federally funded program continues to strengthen communities like Redmond by providing funds to improve housing, living environments, and economic opportunities, principally for persons with low- and moderate-income.

2025 Redmond CDBG-funded work included:

ยท         $32,868 to Thrive for eviction prevention and housing navigation.

ยท         $32,000 to the Redmond Senior Center to replace aging flooring for improved safety and accessibility.

ยท         $118,660 to the Opportunity Foundation for flooring upgrades, ADA bathroom rehabilitation, and seven ceiling lifts to support residents with disabilities.

2026 Redmond allocations continue this broad housing strategy:

ยท         $38,686 to support service providers at the Cityโ€™s managed camp.

ยท         $100,000 in homeownership assistance through Bendโ€‘Redmond Habitat for Humanity and other eligible partners.

ยท         $20,000 to Bethlehem Inn for a bathroom remodel that expands shelter capacity.

ยท         $47,644 to the Opportunity Foundation for group home repairs and restoration.

โ€œThese projects show how CDBG funding helps the City of Redmond address housing needs at a variety of levels, from homelessness services to homeownership,โ€ said Housing and Community Development Committee (HCDC) Chair Amber Wilson. โ€œBy partnering with local organizations, weโ€™re able to support a wide range of programs assisting residents with safe, stable, and accessible housing options.โ€
