Crews are preparing to begin construction of a new single lane roundabout at the intersection of SE 15th Street and Ferguson Road. To complete the work safely and efficiently, the intersection is expected to fully close, beginning Monday, June 22, with detours in place. The closure will begin after the private development project impacting Ferguson Road near 27th Street has reopened to two-way traffic.

To lessen travel impacts, the timing of the closure aligns with the school summer break, when traffic volumes are reduced. Project completion is anticipated in the fall.

The new roundabout is designed to create safer, more efficient travel for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. Engineers have also evaluated the design alongside other planned and recently constructed improvements in the area to ensure everything works together smoothly and supports a safer, more cohesive travel experience.

In addition to the new roundabout, the construction includes roadway resurfacing from 300 feet south of Chloe Lane to King Hezekiah Way. A new shared use path will be built on the west side of SE 15th Street from north of Sherwood Forest Drive to Iron Horse Lane as a part of the Bend Bikeway Project.

Emergency response access will be maintained throughout construction.

This project is funded through the voter-approved 2020 Transportation GO Bond.
