Sisters Habitat for Humanity marked a major milestone on May 29, celebrating both the completion of its Woodlands development and the dedication of its newest homes. The vibrant 10-cottage project provides local families and individuals with a vital opportunity to put down permanent roots.
During the dedication ceremony, four new homeowners were welcomed home by the organization and community members in attendance. While four families moved into their homes earlier in the project’s timeline, the final two homes will be occupied in the coming months.
The celebrated residents shared emotional stories with a common thread: they all once believed that owning a home in the town where they serve was entirely out of reach. Sold at roughly half of market value thanks to more than 100 peopleโincluding staff members, business partners, volunteers, and donorsโthese cottages offer families something invaluable: stability, peace of mind, and a true sense of belonging.
“We are building the infrastructure of a sustainable community,” said Executive Director Peter Hoover, “ensuring that Sisters remains a place where everyone who contributes to our vibrant life here can afford to stay.”
With the final touches being placed on the Woodlands, Sisters Habitat is already pivoting toward its most ambitious goal to date: Larch Commons.
The first round of homeownership applications for Larch Commons is expected to open in the coming months. To learn more or join the notification list, please visit www.sistershabitat.org.
