The Rural Oregon Community Foundation (ROCF) is proud to announce the upcoming Fall Cowboy Gathering, a premier celebration of Western music and cowboy poetry in collaboration with The Bowman Museum and the International Western Music Association (IWMA) Columbia Chapter, taking place on September 26-27 in Prineville, Oregon. Known as the Cowboy Capital of Oregon, Prineville will serve as the backdrop for this two-day immersive cultural experience.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday, September 26, at the Bowman Museum with a series of free community events. From 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, attendees can enjoy the IWMA Talent Showcase, highlighting exceptional performers from the International Western Music Association. Following the showcase, an Open Mic session will be held from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, offering a platform for local and visiting talent to share their own Western-inspired music and verse. Signups for 3-minute slots are first come first served beginning at noon on the 26th at the Bowman Museum.
The gathering continues with a music performance at The Pine Theatre featuring Western music legend, R.W. Hampton, along with opening acts including student poets and musicians, Sydney Pierce, Thomas Fitzgerald, and Larry Fitzgerald. Tickets are available for $25 (General Admission) or $50 for a VIP Experience on Saturday, which includes preferred seating and an exclusive meet-and-greet with the artists.
On Sunday, September 27, festivities conclude with a Cowboy Music & Gospel Concert from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at The Pine Theater, featuring headliner R.W. Hampton, alongside the 2025 IWMA Songwriter of the Year, Chris Guenther as opening act. Tickets for this afternoon performance are $25 for General Admission.
“Hampton is a legend in Western music, both a singer and songwriter, which comes as no surprise to those who know this man has been a lifelong cowboy,” notes ROCF President, Steve Holliday. “His songs originated from his time working on ranches across the West.”
Sean Briscoe, Museum Director for the Bowman Museum added, “hosting the IWMA Columbia Chapter in Prineville ensures that Oregon’s top talent will be performing in Prineville this weekend, along with an opportunity for up-and-coming poets and musicians to join in.”
The Fall Cowboy Gathering is brought to the community by the Rural Oregon Community Foundation in partnership with the Bowman Museum and the International Western Music Association.
