Jim James Solo Project Kicks Off With Minimalist Video

The new album Regions of Light and Sound of God from My Morning Jacket front man Jim James isn't the first solo project he's put forth. It's just the first time he's released something on his own without stylizing his name Yim Yames— an alter ego he flirts with from time to time.

The first track from the new album is called "Know Til Now" and it's a sweet mix of electro R&B, acid jazz and rock. The six-minute-plus song is full of smooth interludes and slick beats. But the music video is as minimal as they come. Don't bother fast forwarding to try and find some defining moment— there isn't one. But that doesn't mean it is without meaning. I'm just going to have to spend a little more time with it to figure that part out.
