One of Bend’s most beloved summer traditions returns to Drake Park this August, as Theater in the Park presents the Broadway smash hit The Producers for its 2026 outdoor production.Set for August 14–15, 2026, the annual event transforms the heart of downtown Bend into an open-air theater, blending live performance, community gathering, and the natural beauty of Central Oregon.
This year’s show, The Producers, is the wildly popular, Tony Award-winning musical by Mel Brooks. The story follows struggling producer Max Bialystock and timid accountant Leo Bloom as they attempt to stage the worst musical ever written—only to have it become an unexpected hit. Known for its outrageous humor, big musical numbers, and over-the-top characters, the show brings a high-energy, comedic experience to the outdoor stage.
Performances begin at 7 p.m. each evening, with gates opening at 6 p.m.Attendees can elevate their experience with VIP tickets, which include early entry at 5 p.m., appetizers, and one beverage. Now in its second decade, Theater in the Park has become a staple of Bend’s summer arts scene. Past productions have included Mamma Mia!, RENT, Into the Woods, and Monty Python’s SPAMALOT, drawing locals and visitors alike to experience live theater in an accessible, outdoor setting.
“There’s something special about gathering in Drake Park on a summer evening and watching live theater under the open sky,” said Aaron Switzer, Event Producer. “Each year, we aim to create an experience that’s not just a performance, but a shared community moment.”The 2026 production is directed by Michelle Mejaski and is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
Tickets are on sale now and expected to sell quickly.
