Where's Walden?: Critics charge Oregon's Congressman with playing politics with his public appearance

Protesters are seated in chairs near the door to the office and are reading through a list of their congressman's votes, statements and efforts over the past few years.

Rep. Greg Walden's office in Bend probably looks a lot like you would imagine. The American and Oregon flags line a door that leads to a basic office with a few desks, a conference room, a water cooler, chairs and a bank of windows that reveal a view of Greenwood Avenue. On this particular evening, the work traffic is steadily rolling through downtown Bend.

Yeah man, we know it’s winter and we’re supposed to be all, “Oh, have you tried so-and-so’s malty winter seasonal?” Instead, we decided to take a break from the season and sample a new-ish IPA from local brewer Dean Wise, the man behind Below Grade Brewing, Wise’s one-barrel basement operation in Northwest Crossing.
The Validation Imperial IPA is a double IPA that packs a noticeable 8.

Adios for Now, El Sancho

Gone, but not forgotten.

I waddled down to El Sancho for lunch (which was awesome, as usual: tacos, tamales and some potato, pepper, zucchini salad business over rice with some roughage on the side) and was met with some surprising news, which I’m still split on.
It seems Joel is leaving his post on 211 NW Greenwood Ave (next to the Blacksmith and his bro cart, Soupcon) to take a job at Pono Farms, a local farm that provides meat for their casual restaurant and for their specialty butcher shop.

BendFilm Announces Documentary Film Series

BendFilm is bringing hit documentaries to local theaters this winter and spring.

While the BendFilm festival remains a painful nine months in the future, BendFilm is giving Bend a much-needed shot of indie cinema in venues throughout the area this winter and spring.
The series kicks off on January 26 with a screening of the documentary, Becoming Chaz, a film that documents Chaz Bono’s journey through his transgender reassignment.
