Every once in awhile we try to use more than just words by bringing a visual component to our stories using video. Last week we brought you video of Bend’s youth billiards league and this week we peek inside the Bend Table Tennis Club at the Boys & Girls Club.
The PDXchange Program continues to bring an incredible string of Portland bands over to the Tower Theatre, as evidenced by last night’s show featuring Viva Voce, Damien Jurado and Loch Lomond.
Sadly, I missed Loch Lomond’s set due to, well, a college basketball obligation, but got there for all of Damien Jurado’s depressing yet brilliant folk songs.

The PUSH skatedeck art show, held at the old Boomtown location on Greenwood Ave, proved a few things last night:
1. Boomtown is one of the coolest venues in Bend.
2. No matter what event you go to in Bend there will be at least sixty children.
3. There are way more great artists in Bend than I realized.
4. A bunch of people want Bend to have an awesome skatepark.
I just saw this video by local production company Hellfish TV that gives an all-encompassing look at last weekend’s WinterFest. The music you’ll hear is a tune from Empty Space Orchestra’s new album, which will be released this spring.
If you’re one of the folks who haven’t been up Mt. Bachelor in the past week, well.
WinterFest sure was wintery, huh? Not only was the weekend a winter wonderland, due to plenty of snowfall, but the festival itself proved to be an excellent time for locals and visitors alike. Mike Bookey shot tons of video this weekend, which I plan on editing together into a mini-documentary this week.
A few hundred of us got an early jump on WinterFest at last night’s WinterFringe event, which began downtown before teleporting to the Century Center.
Downtown, there were brief sets from Mosley Wotta, who delivered a solo spoken-word set, and Larry and His Flask, who did a totally un-amplified run through of half a dozen or so songs.
One of Central Oregon’s biggest outdoors festivals, Bend WinterFest, kicks off tonight with a new addition to the snowy weekend – Winter Fringe, but Mike will have more about that for you later today. This year’s festival is bigger than ever and includes something for everyone.
