When I left the house around noon on Saturday afternoon and looked up at the menacing gray clouds overhead, I said something like, “Ohhh boy, I hope it doesn’t rain?”
Anyway, it didn’t rain, which was good, because I saw outdoor live music featuring three of our region’s best acts, in April, in Bend, all freaking day. First, was Empty Space Orchestra’s Record Store Day performance down in the alley behind Ranch Records.

Video of The Mother Hips From Last Night
There were plenty of people out in downtown Bend last night for St. Patrick’s Day and it seems by 9 p.
Anybody See a Leprechaun?
OK, I know you’ve probably seen this, like a gazillion times, but given that it’s St. Patrick’s Day, I must follow my annual tradition of sharing this clip.
Footage of Empty Space Orchestra in the Studio
As I’ve mentioned a few times on this blog, local instrumental space rockers Empty Space Orchestra have a new self-titled album on the way (it’s due out in May) and I’ll be the first to tell you that it’s radically awesome. (I got a sneak preview listen to it recently).
Video from Franchot Tone’s Performance at Velvet on Saturday Night
Nights like Saturday night in Bend always make me feel extremely fortunate to live here. Based on the quality and variety of live music alone, we live in a great music community.
Watch our video for a peek inside the Bend Table Tennis Club
Here at The Source we know how to use our words.
Every once in awhile we try to use more than just words by bringing a visual component to our stories using video. Last week we brought you video of Bend’s youth billiards league and this week we peek inside the Bend Table Tennis Club at the Boys & Girls Club.
Video from Last Night’s Show: Damien Jurado and Viva Voce
The PDXchange Program continues to bring an incredible string of Portland bands over to the Tower Theatre, as evidenced by last night’s show featuring Viva Voce, Damien Jurado and Loch Lomond.
Sadly, I missed Loch Lomond’s set due to, well, a college basketball obligation, but got there for all of Damien Jurado’s depressing yet brilliant folk songs.
For Richer or Poorer: The Daily Show on Teachers and Wall Street
If you’re having trouble understanding the sometimes-weird rhetoric coming out of Wisconsin and/or FOX News that is blaming teachers for local and national budget woes, take a look at The Daily Show’s take on the subject.

PUSH Skatedeck Art Auction Packs Boomtown Friday Night
The PUSH skatedeck art show, held at the old Boomtown location on Greenwood Ave, proved a few things last night:
1. Boomtown is one of the coolest venues in Bend.
2. No matter what event you go to in Bend there will be at least sixty children.
3. There are way more great artists in Bend than I realized.
4. A bunch of people want Bend to have an awesome skatepark.
Awesome WinterFest Video by Hellfish TV
I just saw this video by local production company Hellfish TV that gives an all-encompassing look at last weekend’s WinterFest. The music you’ll hear is a tune from Empty Space Orchestra’s new album, which will be released this spring.
