County Commission Turns Down $10M Jail Bond
The Deschutes County Commission declined today to approve a request from Sheriff Larry Blanton to authorize $10 million in bonds to expand the Deschutes County Jail. Instead, the county will remodel a juvenile detention facility near the existing jail to make way for 88 adult jail beds.

After scrapping its last round of finalists, Deschutes County has released its latest round of candidates for county administrator. The position has been vacant since last August when the county board of commissioners abruptly fired then-administrator Dave Kanner over what commissioners have said was a difference in management styles.
