Three Bend athletes share the spotlight in a new outdoor adventure documentary, “ADAPTED.” The athletes all have spinal cord injuries, changing the course of their lives. They first returned to sport through Oregon Adaptive Sports, starting on the ski slopes. The film follows them through their journeys of sheer determination, resilience, courage and adventure. Anna Soens attempts to become the first paraplegic athlete to summit Mt. Baker, a 10,781-foot glacier-covered volcano in Washington. Josh Hancock leads a custom adapted raft through the wild and scenic Salmon River in Idaho. Danielle Doelling trains to hand-cycle 87 miles along Utah’s rugged White Rim Trail in Canyonlands National Park.

The film is sponsored by Bend Lifestyle Realty and supported by community partners Dirty Freehub and Oregon Adaptive Sports. It will be shown at the Tower Theatre on April 23. There will be more than 20 wheelchair accessible spots, captions and discounted ADA tickets. The athletes will also be on hand for a Q&A following the screening.
