Isaac Paris and Isaac Pierce

MUSIC—Add one part sultry redhead to two parts vintage piano plus one well-dressed drummer, a smidge of Fiona Apple skulk and a pinch of punk rock and you've got Portland's Machine. The heavy, sexy, distorted piano and drum duo return to Bend with Seattle rockers Antique Scream. 21+. $5. 8 p.m. The Horned Hand, 507 NW Colorado Ave.

Northorn Lights Birthday Party friday 29 MUSIC—Instead of cake and ice cream, Northorn Lights is serving tasty beats from a slew of area rappers and producers for his birthday party: Buck Turtle, Scotty Del, J Dubb, Cast-Iron, Mez, Opasit, Diction-One and Bad Habitat. Workhouse Anniversary Party

saturday 30

ANNIVERSARY—It's been a year since the Workhouse established itself as the center of independent art in Bend. The collective has thrown last Saturday events every month and a few other special little soirees like a holiday bazaar that did indeed feature the bizarre. But nothing will top its birthday party. Wilderness (one of our favorite bands!) plays live. 6 p.m., The Workhouse, 50 SE Scott St. #6

Kayaking for All

saturday 30

KAYAK—Brace for a weekend of kayak love. The quarter-mile Riverhouse Rendezvous kayak racecourse opens for practice runs Saturday. On Sunday race or watch as boaters roll and ferry their way down the Class 2+ slalom course behind the Riverhouse (10 a.m.). More info at tumalocreek.com.

sunday 31

EGG HUNTS—The Easter Bunny has been taking a few ski lessons lately, and will be hiding eggs at 9:45 a.m. along Home Base (beneath Sunshine). For four paws, Bend Pet Express East hosts its third annual puppy egg hunt. 3 p.m., 420 NE Windy Knolls.
