Ida’s Cupcake Cafe is closing its NW Galveston location in Bend on Saturday, Jan. 10. In a news release to the Source, owner Autumn Lodge Persinger explains that the closure is due to an unexpected family emergency. She writes, “Family comes first for us, so we find it necessary at this time to optimize our footprint and focus our resources where they have the biggest impact — at our main bakery on Division in Bend and at our Redmond bakery.”

Persinger took over Ida’s in 2018, It was originally started by its namesake, Ida Gurule, in 2008. The first location was on Galveston Avenue, but not at the current spot. Persinger says her passion for baking goes back to her toddler days when she spent hours in the kitchen with her grandmother baking together. Persinger says Ida’s Cupcake Cafe ties together her love of baking, her master’s in art history and her 13 years of experience in the restaurant industry.

She says, “We will miss our loyal customers and friends on Galveston, but we remain committed to serving our Central Oregon community. We sincerely hope our customers will take advantage of our other two locations and continue to support us during this difficult time.
Ida’s Cupcake Cafe has a location at 1155 SW Division St. in Bend and 445 SW 6th St. in Redmond, both of which will remain open.

I just want to give a huge shout out to the Ida’s cupcake family and thank them for the best cupcakes and cakes in town. I use the Division location for all my celebrations and have turned many on to this place, esp my vegans out there. Their vegan cakes are to die for not to mention their regular baked goods. Must try the Marion Berry cupcakes when they are in season. My absolute fav. Thoughts and prayers to the owner during this difficult time.
