Geographer has been voted one of Spin.com's "Three Undiscovered Bands You Need to Hear Now." When they come to Silver Moon on Sunday we'll get our chance to do just that and you should probably seize the opportunity.
Lead singer Michael Deni turns personal tragedy into soulfully rich, awe-inspiring melodies. The dance tunes are simple yet beautiful in their delivery and stick with you long after the earphones have been separated from the eardrums. What we mean is that Geographer plays the kind of indie rock you want hooked up to your veins, letting it move your body and soul.
Deni left New Jersey and found himself in San Francisco with his guitar and a synthesizer he found on the street and used these devices to turn out emotional, heart-pounding songs. These epics now make up the band's debut album, Innocent Ghosts, which is wrought with expansive soundscapes but combined with enough catchy sensibilities to remind you of a name brand like Modest Mouse. Really, could you ask for more? Smooth and infectious, Geographer moves you.
