The Julie Ruin & La Sera
Gather the girls (and guys, but probably mostly girls) to watch Kathleen Hanna's return to the music scene in her famous feminist-punk fashion. The Bikini Kill days are gone, but The Julie Ruin gives that badass rocker-chick taste of the '90s while making moshing and hair-whipping happy inevitabilities. While Neko Case has been a staple on the NPR crowd's iPods for years, she has been just at the edges of mainstream. The sultry, cow-punk redhead has remained below the top-40 charts, but not off critics-best lists.
