Central Oregon Soldiers Arrive Home From Iraq Today

Oregon soldiers fly into Redmond today.

Back from their missions in Iraq where they conducted force protection and convoy security are 18 Central Oregon soldiers who served as part of Operation New Dawn.

Sixteen of the Oregon National Guard soldiers, who are members of the 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Brigade, fly into RDM at 11:30am and another two arrive at the Redmond airport at 12:30pm today.

The unit, which is approximately 600 soldiers strong and garnered more than 200 individual awards, previously deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005-05.

A warm welcome is much deserved for all their hard work.
