Fundraiser Set for Local Robotics Teams

McMenamins Old St. Francis will donate 50 percent of the evening's sales

If you feel like hitting McMenamins for a giant basket of tots or a fresh-squeezed Greyhound, Tuesday, March 20 should be your night.

That night, the Old St. Francis School is hosting a Friends and Family Night fundraiser for local high school robotics teams. From 5 pm to close, McMenamins is donating 50 percent of the evening’s sales to the teams.

Mountain View High School’s High Desert Droids and Summit High School’s Chaos Theory Robotics team will each build a robot to compete in the FIRST Robotic Competition, a series of regional tournaments against other teams that gives the robots a chance to  performing tasks on a special playing field.

The robotics teams don’t just build, they also engage in the community through outreach, develop and market their “brand” and raise funds to support their efforts and to travel to tournaments competing with other teams from around the world.
