Meg says old school Republicans are scared. Well, what exactly is a new school Republican? What do they believe? That gay marriage should remain illegal, but by golly, we could be a bit nicer about it? That we disagree with every single one of Obama’s initiatives, but we see no need to get up in his face in a rude way? Troops should remain in Iraq indefinitely, but we don’t have to sound like grumpy old men when we say so? I especially like Meghan’s “I believe in a strong national defense,” but yet “I love to wear black,” as if a young Republican’s clothing color creates meaningful differentiation between she and her grouchy father.

The simple fact is that, back in January when the cards looked very bleak, the Republican leadership determined their best course was to predict the President’s failure in all things. Almost every Republican leader in the nation has since endorsed this Policy of No, and none of Meghan McCain’s fashion posturing can change that.

  1. Republican or democrat, we should all want what is best for our country, and follow the Constitution. The current administration is trampling the Constitution and our liberties.

  2. Umm…John, I think that your comments are a few months too late. Unless you meant “previous administration” in your statement and/or believe that warrantless wiretapping, torture, destroying the 4th Amendment aren’t a form of trampling on the Constitution and our liberties.

  3. There IS a parallel universe after all!!! Mr. Beals, above, has been living there for the last 8 years while the Neo-Con Fascist Junta under Cheny, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Shrubby made a sham of not only the Constitution but the Declaration of Independance and the Bill of Rights – many of the Supreme Courts decisions were jokes, certain government-related bodies were run by pals/buddies/good ol’ boys and miscellaneous plonkers (e.g. FEMA, EPA) and Americans in 2008 had less “liberties” than citizens of any advanced nation on Earth.

Here’s the rub: No matter what Hannity, O’Reilly, Limbaugh and the Coultergeist say, you can’t make the last 8 years vanish just by saying they didn’t happen – the other 6 billion witnesses can’t all be wrong.

Come back, Mr. Beals, to our universe, things aren’t so rosy here, but at least they’re real.

  4. The Democrat Socialist Party hacks love to say, “The Republicans just say no!”

No to the destruction of America? No to Socialism? No to trillions in Debt? No to a ‘Global Warming Tax’ that will make GE six billion dollars and Al gore a billionaire and cost every American household $1600 a year and accomplish nothing other to than to enrich a few? No to a tax on Soda pop? No to a tax on Beer? No to socialized Medicine? No to these new taxes that we were guaranteed wouldn’t occur? No to having a naive Marxist obsequious ass for President, who grovels, bows, apologizes, and on bended knee licks the ass of other world leaders ?

True. These ‘no’ are like saying no to, “Do you want to be shot? Can we rape your children? Do you want a giant toke of radioactive nerve gas?”

When the Socialist Democrats are falling through their own bung holes in their eagerness to destroy America, I guess the proper response is NO!

You are right, we are the party of no. I’m damned proud to be a part of that ‘no.’ Don’t gloat to much about your short term of power; tides go in both directions. That which is in, is soon out.

  5. Blue collar,

    Welcome to our universe, Visitor…

The Republicans built up the trillions in Debt
The Republicans have done more to destroy America in the last 8 years than any outside agency could have done
Bleating about “Socialism” has really become tiresome
The Republicans denied “Global Warming” right up until they became a laughing stock for doing so – haha
Explain how Gore is going to get these billions – work for Halliburton?
“Enrich a few”… Pleeeeeeassse – the last 10 years has seen an unprecedented concentration of the nation’s wealth in the hands of the top few % – as a direct result of Regan’s Big Joke: Trickle Down, remember that one? How’s your trickle coming along BC?
Medicine: Though the most expensive on Earth, US heathcare ranks 22nd in the world in Quality. Hmmmmm
Obsequious: yes, what we really needed was another illiterate “tough-guy” phallic president.

And your list of “no’s” isn’t it a REAL SHAME Iraqi parents never asked these questions before they were shot, their daughters raped and they were choked in the fumes of US incendiary bombs. Such a shame

Grow up – you and your type just got washed out in a tide of disgust
