A new Bend business featuring indoor golf simulators is a family affair. Steve Lobis, his wife and son are opening X-Golf on Scalehouse Court near the Old Mill District. Lobis retired from the corporate world and wanted to keep busy. His son suggested opening an X-Golf franchise after visiting one in Washington. Lobis says it was a perfect fit for a family of avid golfers. It’s taken nearly a year and a half to get the doors open.
X-Golf has seven simulators with technology that Lobis says can measure a person’s swing with 99% accuracy using a combination of lasers, lights, impact and camera sensors. It’ll also measure ball speed, distance and launch path. Golfers can reserve simulators online for $55 to $65 per hour. There’s no limit on how many people participate during that hour. Players can bring their own clubs or rent them. Lessons and leagues will also be offered.
For those not looking to golf, the venue also has 13 big screen televisions to watch sporting events, along with pool tables and dart boards. There’s a full bar with a limited menu featuring flatbread pizza, Caesar salad, chicken wings and chicken tenders, among other items.
In addition to serious golfers, Lobis is hoping the venue will also become a destination for families, parties and corporate events. It’ll be open seven days a week and stay open late. It opens to the public Saturday with a grand opening celebration May 16-18.
