Down at the bottom of tomorrow’s (Wednesday’s) council agenda is a real estate item of interest to those of us who have been following the city of Bend’s aggressive real estate and development dance over the past few years. It’s a notice of a public hearing of an intent to put the old Bulletin property on the market four years after the city acquired it a premium price from local developers Todd Taylor and Jeff Pickhardt.

I had a chance to sit down with local winter entrepreneur extraordinaire Doug Maragas this past week to talk about his new(ish) winery and vineyard north of Terrebonne. We also touched on the future of his tasting room — and former residence — at the corner of Colorado an Bond.

I’m going to make a small wager right now with anyone who wants to take me up on it. I’ll wager a Taco Stand smothered burrito that the Bulletin leads tomorrow’s A section with a story and photo about the Over the Hill golf tourney in Sunriver.

Most regular customers of the popular Brooks St. deli have already heard that it’s moving lock, soup stock and beer barrel over to its sister operation at the Summit.

Quick pseudo update on the story from last Friday about questions around Democratic state representative Larry Galizio’s appointment/hire to high level Oregon Universtity system job on the recommendation of Gov. Ted Kulongoski’s staff — after Galizio provided the key, swing-vote on the Metolius Basin resort ban.

I had a chance last night to vet at least a couple of rumors about downtown last night at our Best Of party. I talked to one business owner about a recent local blog report that the downtown chocolate shop, Chocolat e Gateaux,
is closing soon and that Astro and Marz may not be far behind as the landlord pursues a plan to remodel the Minnesota Ave.

As you’ve no doubt noticed, the Source has completely re-vamped our website this week. We’re pretty excited about the changes, most of which are very evident.
