I used to work for Bill Moseley and he is in a word, mercurial. He is constantly changing company policies and procedures so that staff have to constantly change how they work internally and with clients. He is also used to having his way in closed door meetings that change how the company does business. This mode of operating runs completely counter to the democratic process followed by our elected officials. I have been in meetings with Bill Moseley where he has been bullying, condescending and derisive towards people he does not agree with or who he simply dislikes. I have seen his personal likes and dislikes get in the way of him making good business decisions. Based on my personal experience, I cannot say that Bill Moseley will listen openly to public testimony or work collaboratively with city staff to get to solutions that benefit Bend.
The comment above is 100% accurate. I am also a previous employee and I have never worked with such talented amazing people at any other company. Yet each and everyone of those talented people shortly found new employment. The turnover rate speaks volumes to how much Bill Mosley values good employees – he doesn’t. He especially dislikes anyone who might disagree with him. He is not a person that will work for the best interests of the citizens of Bend.
I worked for Bill Moseley as well for 15 months. I think his company has only survived because Bill is a great salesman and state agencies rarely get the budget for new software once they discover they made a poor choice, so they stick with the unsatisfactory provider they have. Bill’s leadership style can be described in one word, he is a bully. A little digging will reveal that his company has survived more than it has thrived. He has lost scores more clients and talent than he has retained. Bill rarely listens to or even respects the colleagues that he has chosen to work with him at his company. It is unlikely he will suddenly change and listen to or respect the citizens, fellow councillors or city employees in his role as city councillor. Bill is a great salesman, not a leader.
