Mickey Hart is Coming to Bend and We Want to Give You His New CD
Calling all deadheads!
Mickey Hart, former drummer for the Grateful Dead, is playing at the Tower on May 7 and we have an extra copy of his new CD, Mysterium Tremendum to give away.
Hart’s spacey/world-beat jams are easy on the ears and at least one of us here on the Source’s editorial staff is psyched for the upcoming show.
Finding Portland: Another neat video from Uncage the Soul Productions
The footage from the Timbers game is particularly cool, as are all of the Portland-at-night shots.

Afghani Civil Rights Leader Tonight at the Tower
Here’s the short list of reasons Sima Samar probably has interesting things to say tonight at the Tower about her native country, Afghanistan:

Local Columnist Lily Raff Gets Op-Ed in NY Times
One thing you should do today is read Lily Raff’s op-ed about hunting and the NRA, published in the New York Times on April 24.
The longtime Bulletin reporter and columnist lays out one hell of a well-researched and well-written argument for why hunters and NRA members are not one and the same.
More Than Getting By: With a little help from his friends, Eric Tollefson has created a strong pop album
Eric Tollefson once wrapped his hand in duct tape to improve his playing. That's how much his music means to him. Such dedication is part of what's propelled Tollefson to the top.
The longtime Bend resident is the new king of Central Oregon pop, and his new album, The Polar Ends, proves it.
For his sophomore self-release, Tollefson employed the help of a number of notables from within the music industry to create an all-star cast. From the producer, to the backing musicians, to the recording studio itself, Tollefson spared no expense in his quest to create a solid offering. In doing so he’s recorded an album that stands apart from the rest of the pop pack.

Photographer Brad Goldpaint is a night owl for good reasons. He creates stunning images of the night sky.
Local Food Getting Easier to Find
It’s getting easier and easier to find local food and I’m not just talking about CSAs.
Two locally grown food-related organizations are launching parallel campaigns that aim to connect food buyer with local producer.
