All too often, the typical auto repair shop experience is anything but “happy.” For Bend drivers, that’s not the case at Happy Danes, a shop owned by Kaj and Michelle Larsen who areโ€”you guessed itโ€”a couple of happy danes. Kaj (pronounced “K-eye”) has been working on cars since he was 16 years old, when he came to the United States with his parents from Copenhagen. His wife Michelle, who also has Danish roots, admits that the shop name was a no brainer: “It’s true that 95 percent of the time we are in a pretty good mood!” With an emphasis on one-on-one communication and excellent customer service, Happy Danes has been under the hood on behalf of thousands of Bend customers for more than 31 years. Their philosophy is all about getting to know the person behind the wheel. You can always count on a personal connection with Happy Dane’s technicians, who work hard to make their customers as happy as they are. (CH)
