Wellness Doctor’s win of Best Chiropractor comes in a very timely matter – the business just celebrated its 20th birthday.
When I popped in to talk to the founder of Wellness Doctor, Jason Kremer, he was called from his office by a friendly yell down the hallway, “Hey Dr.K!” This pretty much sums up the atmosphere within the office – an overall palpable energy.
While others may operate from a disease-focused approach, he says, Kremer bases his business on promoting the wellness of the community.
During his time in university, Kremer was studying cardiac rehab but switched to a chiropractic focus in grad school.
“In the first semester they were asking students, ‘What made you want to be a chiropractor?’” he said. “Everyone had a chiropractic experience to back it up, but I had never been to a chiropractor before.”

Kremer raised his hand and said that the chiropractic work did interest him but beyond that, the nutrition, the rehab, the connection with natural health care was a no-brainer for him.
Kremer comes from an extensive athletic exercise background. He says this niche is what makes him stand out in the health care industry, a perfect fit for Bend’s active lifestyle.
“Keeping healthy people staying active, injury free and offering a lot of therapeutic modalities…we offer a lot under one umbrella from a natural health care standpoint,” he said.
Another part of his practice is co-treating. Kremer collaborates with other naturopaths including his wife, Cassie Kremer, who works as a nutritionist at the Wellness Doctor. Kremer also has a steady list of connections to acupuncturists, personal trainers, even foot and ankle specialists.
“Just putting myself in my patients’ shoes,” is his recipe for success. “You don’t want this treatment to drag out; you want to get better and back in your life and then maybe [we won’t have to] see you for a while,” Kremer said.
Kremer’s goal at his practice is to treat the whole person. He gave an example of this instance.
“[Someone] might present with a sore elbow or shoulder, but then on intake they also have digestive issues,” he said. “I just don’t like to miss anything.”
In the past 20 years Kremer has taken on a handful of associates at the Wellness doctor, including Matt Thompkins, also a chiropractor, as the most recent addition.
“He’s got just so much energy and compassion, and I couldn’t imagine anybody else as an associate,” Kremer said. “We just feed off each other.”
