Pie? Yes, Please!

A pie shop is opening next to Hola! on NW Minnesota Avenue. Construction is currently underway to remodel the space once held by BrownBag Popcorn which moved across the street. Pie Maison describes itself as a modern bakery with European soul. According to its website, it will offer signature pies along with monthly rotating seasonal specials by the slice or whole. The company is currently hiring bakers who will work at an off-site commercial kitchen then transport pies to the downtown retail shop. Pie Maison is expected to open later this month.

High Desert Food Trail

The High desert Food & Farm Alliance released the latest High Desert Food Trail, a self-guided food adventure highlighting local farms, ranches, restaurants and culinary experiences. Sixty businesses are on the list from Sunriver to Warm Springs. Categories include craft beverages, cafes, bakeries, eateries, farm stands, specialty markets, farmers markets, agritourism experiences and accommodations. Accessibility is also a priority with many of the businesses certified through Wheel the World such as Faith, Hope and Charity, Rainshadow Organics, DD Ranch, Lazy Z Ranch and Tumalo Farmstand.

New this year, the first High Desert Food Trail Scavenger Hunt will take place in the Sisters and Tumalo areas on Saturday, Sept. 19. The interactive event will lead participants on a family-friendly adventure exploring local businesses.
