October is Fire Prevention Month, and this year’s theme is “Charge Into Fire Safety.” The campaign focuses on the safe use of lithium-ion batteries, which power many everyday devices, including e-bikes, power tools, cell phones and tablets. Improper charging, use or disposal of lithium-ion batteries can increase the risk of fire. Residents are encouraged to purchase listed products, follow manufacturer charging instructions and recycle or dispose of batteries properly.

Community members can learn more about lithium-ion battery safety at the open house or by visiting the National Fire Protection Association website.
