In response to the recent tragedy impacting the Bend community, Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council (COIC) and Cascades East Transit (CET) are offering fare-free service on Bend fixed routes, Bend Dial-A-Ride, and Community Connector Routes 24, 29, and 30. Fare-free service began Friday, October 16, and runs through the end of service on Monday, October 26, 2026.

As our community grieves and comes together to support one another, COIC and CET want to do their part to make life a little easier.

โ€œOur hearts are with the students, families, educators, and everyone impacted by this tragedy,โ€ said Tammy Baney, COIC Executive Director. โ€œWhether people are accessing community resources, connecting with friends and loved ones, or simply getting out of the house for a little fresh air, we want to make sure transportation is not a barrier. This is one small way we can support our neighbors during a difficult time.โ€

No pass or fare is needed on Bend fixed routes or Community Connector Routes 24, 29, and 30; riders can simply board. Bend Dial-A-Ride is also fare-free during this period for eligible riders, who should continue to schedule trips as usual by calling 541-385-8680.

COIC and CET remain committed to serving our community, not only through transportation, but by helping people stay connected to the places and people who matter most.
