The City of Bend invites community members to attend a pre-construction open house for the Second Street Waterline Project, a key infrastructure upgrade that will replace aging waterlines and strengthen the future reliability and resilience of the City’s water system.
The open house will be held on Thursday, June 25, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Open Space Event Studio, 220 NE Lafayette Ave., Bend, OR 97701. Attendees may drop in at any time during the event to meet the project team, ask questions, and learn about the construction schedule and anticipated impacts.
For those unable to attend in person, all open house materials will be available online at bendoregon.gov/2ndstreet-waterline.
The Second Street Waterline Project will replace old 12-inch cast iron pipe with a new 18-inch ductile iron pipe. The upgraded waterline will connect with the recently completed Awbrey waterline, the Olney Avenue waterline improvements, and future projects supporting the City’s plan to enhance east–west water transmission. This project is part of a long-term effort to improve system efficiency, resilience and reliability, especially during periods of high demand or emergencies.
Construction will be completed in three phases to reduce disruption. Business access will be maintained throughout construction. Project completion is anticipated in fall 2026.
Community members can stay informed throughout construction by signing up for project updates at bendoregon.gov/2ndstreet-waterline.
