Destination Rehab is proud to announce it has been awarded grant funding from the Hull Foundation to launch the Trailblazers Adventure Group, an adaptive outdoor recreation program designed to help adults living with neurologic conditions and mobility limitations experience the beauty of Central Oregon alongside their caregivers.
The Trailblazers Adventure Group removes barriers to outdoor recreation by providing adaptive equipment, physical therapist guidance, and trained volunteers, making adventures accessible for individuals who primarily use wheelchairs and are able to transfer with assistance. The program is provided free of charge thanks to the generous support of the Hull Foundation.
Participants will take part in six guided community outings that promote confidence, independence, and social connection while exploring some of Central Oregon’s most beautiful outdoor destinations. Activities include adaptive trail experiences using the AdvenChair, kayaking, recumbent cycling, adaptive rock climbing, museum visits, and ranger-led educational experiences.
In addition to outdoor recreation, each outing incorporates education to help participants safely enjoy future adventures. Topics include adaptive equipment, mobility strategies, outdoor safety, heat management, energy conservation, and planning for accessible recreation.
The Trailblazers Adventure Group reflects Destination Rehab’s mission of empowering people living with neurologic conditions through movement, community, and adventure. By combining evidence-based rehabilitation principles with real-world experiences, participants develop skills that translate into greater confidence and independence beyond the program while creating meaningful connections with others.
Registration is now open for the upcoming Trailblazers Adventure Group. Adults living with neurologic conditions and mobility limitations who are interested in participating can learn more and complete the Trailblazers intake survey by visiting Destination Rehab’s website atwww.destinationrehab.org/trailblazers.
