Beginning Monday, Aug. 3, a temporary westbound lane closure of Franklin Avenue from NE Second Street to NE Third Street will be required for one month. The detour route includes NE Third Street, Greenwood Avenue, and NW Wall Street.
Other daytime work and some night work will continue between First Street and Fourth Street. Franklin Avenue will remain open to eastbound traffic until September.

BUSINESS ACCESS OPEN
Business access will be maintained throughout construction and emergency response access will be maintained at all times. Businesses north of Franklin Avenue can be accessed from Greeley Avenue, follow the “local access only” signs.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
During this phase of construction, crews continue upgrading the aging waterlines, installing stormwater dry wells, updating signal wires, and will begin the full reconstruction of the street so it’s safer for everyone who uses it. This street work includes, building out curbs and sidewalks, repaving, and reconfiguring the traffic signal.
Future phases of work on Franklin Avenue
- September: Work will move west from First Street to Hill Street in September. This will require a full closure of Franklin Avenue, including the undercrossing. Detour routes include Greenwood, Olney and Colorado avenues.
- Thanksgiving–New Year’s: The undercrossing will reopen temporarily from Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26) through New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2027).
- January 2027: Road work will resume in January with the full closure of Franklin Avenue from Harriman Street to First Street, including the undercrossing.
One side of the undercrossing path will remain open at all times for pedestrians and cyclists.
