In March 2026 the U.S. Department of Agriculture terminated nearly $300 million in grant funding across the country. For us at HDFFA, this is more than a news story, it’s a direct hit. We had been awarded $300,000 in critical grant funding to be distributed over three years to strengthen our local food system. And overnight, it disappeared.
We’re asking our community to help seed HDFFA’s Agricultural Opportunity Fund—restoring the $100,000 we lost in the first year of this grant and ensuring this work continues without interruption.Your gift will translate directly into action by allowing us to:
Invest directly in small to mid-sized farmsthrough grants that expand infrastructure, extend growing seasons, and increase efficiency;
Strengthen farm and ranch businesses with tailored guidance that drives long-term sustainability and profitability;Build stronger local markets by connecting producers directly to consumers and buyers, keeping more food dollars in our regional economy. Contribute to the Agricultural Opportunity Fund today.
We’ve seen what’s possible when this work is funded:stronger farm businesses, more locally grown food on our tables, and a healthier, more connected community.
When farmers are supported and their businesses are stable and able to grow, more of our neighbors are nourished. Your support is an investment in resilience—ensuring a thriving agricultural community, no matter what happens at the federal level.
