The Lay It Out Foundation and The Source are launching a new community conversation series this spring, kicking off with an evening focused on environmental leadership in Central Oregon. The first event in the Ink & Insights Speaker SeriesA Conversation with Central Oregon Earth Heroes—will take place on Thursday, April 16 from 6:30–7:30 p.m. at Roundabout Books & Cafe.Moderated by Lay It Out Foundation journalist Peter Madsen, the discussion will feature voices highlighted in The Source’s upcoming Green Issue—individuals working at the intersection of environmental advocacy, policy, and outdoor stewardship.Featured speakers include:Graham Zimmerman, professional alpinist, author, and senior director of athlete alliances at Protect Our WintersBrennan Breen, campaign coordinator for Energize BendJoe Craig, board member for Central Oregon LandWatchTogether, the panel will explore what it means to be an environmental advocate in today’s landscape—from climate action and conservation to local policy and community impact.

“This series is about bringing the stories we tell on the page into real-life conversation,” said Ann Leitheiser, Development Director for the Lay It Out Foundation. “It’s an opportunity to connect readers directly with the people shaping Central Oregon’s future.”Tickets are $10, with all proceeds benefiting the Lay It Out Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports independent journalism and community-driven initiatives across the region.The Ink & Insights Speaker Series is designed to expand on The Source’s editorial coverage by creating space for thoughtful, in-person dialogue around key issues impacting Central Oregon.
