MountainStar Family Relief Nursery (MountainStar) is kicking off summer with the invitation to join our biggest annual fundraising event. Registration is now open for the 12th Annual Birdies 4 Babies (B4B) Gala & Golf Fundraiser, following a record-breaking year that raised more than $600,000 to support children and families across Central Oregon.
As MountainStar celebrates its 25th Anniversary Year, the organization is also sharing June’s Community Care Project and recognizing the incredible generosity of Hixon Mortgage who nominated MountainStar as this year’s beneficiary of SummerFest this past weekend.
Registration Now Open for Birdies 4 Babies 2026
MountainStar is excited to announce that registration is now open for the 12th Annual B4B Gala & Golf Fundraiser, returning this August.
For more than a decade, B4B has united business leaders, community members, and advocates around a shared mission: preventing child abuse and neglect by ensuring vulnerable children and families have access to critical support services.
Last year, B4B raised more than $600,000, making it the most successful event in the organization’s history. Funds raised support MountainStar’s therapeutic classrooms, home visiting programs, parent education, and family support services throughout Central Oregon- Strengthening Families to Keep Kids Safe.
Building on that incredible success, MountainStar hopes to continue the momentum in 2026 by bringing together even more sponsors, golfers, gala guests, and community partners.
“The generosity of this community continues to inspire us,” said Kara Tachikawa, Executive Director of MountainStar. “Raising more than $600,000 last year was a powerful reminder of what is possible when people come together around a shared purpose. As we celebrate our 25th Anniversary, we’re excited to build on that momentum and create an even greater impact for children and families this year.”

June Community Care Project: Summer Essentials
As part of MountainStar’s 25th Anniversary Community Care Series, June’s project focuses on collecting Summer Essentials for families with young children.
Requested items include:
- Sunscreen
- Children’s sun hats
- Reusable water bottles
- Swim diapers and waterproof diapers
- Baby wipes
These supplies help families safely enjoy summer activities while reducing financial stress and supporting children’s health and well-being.
Donations may be dropped off throughout June at MountainStar locations in La Pine, Bend, Redmond, Madras, and Prineville.
“Summer should be a time for children to play, explore, and make memories,” said Tachikawa. “By providing these essentials, we’re helping ensure families have the resources they need to keep their children safe, healthy, and active all season long.”
Thank You, SummerFest
MountainStar also extends its heartfelt gratitude to Hixon Mortgage and the organizers of SummerFest for selecting MountainStar as this year’s nonprofit beneficiary.
The event brought together community members, businesses, sponsors, and volunteers in a powerful demonstration of generosity and community spirit. Funds raised through SummerFest will help MountainStar continue providing prevention-focused services that keep our communityโs children safe from abuse and neglect.
“We are incredibly honored to have been chosen as the SummerFest beneficiary,” said Tachikawa. “Thank you to Hixon Mortgage and everyone who helped make the event a success. Partnerships like these remind us that child abuse prevention is truly a community effort.”
Celebrating 25 Years of Prevention and Partnership
Throughout 2026, MountainStar is celebrating 25 years of prevention, partnership, and hope through monthly Community Care Projects and community engagement opportunities designed to strengthen families and prevent child abuse before it occurs.
As MountainStar looks ahead to another B4B season, the organization remains committed to building a future where every child is safe, supported, and surrounded by a caring community.
