Pizza Mondo Celebrates 30 Years of Serving Bend

Pizza Mondo, Bend, Oregon’s landmark downtown pizzeria, is celebrating 30 years of serving the Bend community! For the past three decades, the locally owned pizzeria has been slinging slices, whole pies and good times to generations of Bend residents and visitors.

In 1996, founders and friends Steve Koch and John Picarazzi decided to take a leap and turn their lifelong passion for pizza into an upstart pizzeria business in downtown Bend. Their shared love for great pizza was contagious and Bend responded – 30 years later Pizza Mondo still operates from its original location on Wall Street. In 2004, Steve and John invited longtime employee and manager Cliff Triplett to become the 3rd partner in this locally owned business.

Over the 3 decades since its opening, Pizza Mondo has made over 2 million pizzas (that’s 16 million slices!) and won dozens of “Best Pizza” awards, including a remarkable 28 year streak of consecutive wins in The Source Readers’ Poll (1998-2026).

“Thirty years is an incredible milestone, and we couldn’t have reached it without this amazing community and literally hundreds of outstanding employees throughout the years” said Co-Owner Cliff Triplett. “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has walked through our doors and shared a meal with us”.

To celebrate, Pizza Mondo will be focusing on sharing gratitude to the community and the people that have helped it thrive for 30 great years. Pizza Mondo will host 5 days of giving back, with giveaways to our customers, as well as a percentage of proceeds benefitting organizations that serve Bend’s populations most in need of basic support. Monday October 19 through Friday October 23, Pizza Mondo will dedicate a portion of proceeds to the following organizations: The Giving Plate, Bethlehem Inn, Shepard’s House Ministries, Family Kitchen and Neighbor Impact. Customers are invited to join the celebration and help mark this special chapter in the restaurant’s history. “We would be nowhere without the community we serve, and we feel lucky and thankful for it” said Co-Owner/Founder John Picarazzi.

As Bend has grown and changed over the past 30 years, Pizza Mondo has remained committed to what matters most: serving delicious pizza and cultivating relationships with its customers, employees, neighbors, and the Bend community.
