City of Redmond announces that the position of Mayor and three City Council seats will appear on the November 2026 general election ballot. All terms will begin in January 2027.
Residents interested in serving their community through elected office may obtain candidate election packets from the City Recorder’s Office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The filing deadline is 5:00 p.m. on August 25, 2026.
Serving on the Redmond City Council or as Mayor offers community members the opportunity to help guide Redmond’s long-term vision, shape local policy, and represent the interests of residents across the city. The City encourages individuals who are committed to public service, collaborative problem-solving, and thoughtful leadership to consider running.
Candidate Eligibility Requirements
Prospective candidates must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a registered voter
- Have resided within Redmond city limits for at least one year prior to the election date
Filing Options
Candidates may file for office in one of two ways:
- By fee: $100 for Mayor; $50 for City Council or
- By nominating petition: 100 verified signatures required for Mayor; 50 verified signatures required for City Council
Petition candidates must receive written approval from the City Recorder before collecting signatures. Signatures gathered prior to approval will not be accepted.
Candidate Information Sessions
To support prospective candidates, the City will host informational sessions about the election process and required filing documents. All sessions will be held at City Hall:
- June 18, 9:00–10:00 a.m., Conference Room 105
- July 22, 5:00–6:00 p.m., Council Chambers
- August 7, 12:00–1:00 p.m., Conference Room 105
About Redmond’s Council/Manager Form of Government
The City of Redmond operates under a Council/Manager structure. The Mayor and six Council members serve as the community’s policy-making body, each elected to four-year terms. The City Manager is appointed by the Council and is responsible for implementing Council directives and managing daily operations.
