The Ochoco National Forest will host the 30th annual Senior Fishing Derby on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Walton Lake. This milestone event offers a free and fun-filled morning of fishing and prizes specifically for participants 55 years of age and older.
The annual fishing derby is held at Walton Lake, about 30 miles east of Prineville on Ochoco National Forest’s Lookout Mountain Ranger District. Registration for participants will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the boat ramp, with fishing activities running from 8:00 a.m. until noon.
Attendees will have the chance to win prizes across various categories, including the largest fish by length, the largest fish by weight, recognition for the angler who traveled the farthest distance, the oldest participant, and the winner of a friendly casting contest. All prizes have been generously donated by local area businesses.
The event is hosted by Aud & Di Campground Services Inc. and the Forest Service.
