SFF Presents has announced the seven Sisters Folk Festival artists teaching at the 2026 Americana Song Academy music and songwriting retreat at Caldera Arts on September 21 – 26. This year’s instructors include Bandits on the Run, Eli West, Jordan Smart, Maya de Vitry, Rosine, Spencer LaJoye, and Thunderstorm Artis, plus longtime Academy contributor and performer, Dennis McGregor.
The Americana Song Academy is an annual songwriting camp offering an immersive creative experience in which participants are given the opportunity to work with touring professionals to hone their craft in a supportive environment.
Since the camp’s formation in 2002, the Americana Song Academy has played an important role in the annual Sisters Folk Festival experience. Festival artists arrive four days early to teach and share their music and professional insight with attendees. Led by long-time Sisters Folk Festival performing artist, host of the festival’s Community Celebration, and staff director Beth Wood, this unique opportunity includes workshops, instructor performances, participant open mics, one-on-one mentor sessions, and group singing.
The Americana Song Academy is open to 70 participants (fewer than 20 spots remain!) ages 18 and older. The registration fee is $775 including all instruction, meals, snacks, taxes and fees, and is paid in installments. Camping and lodging are extra, though participants are not required to stay at Caldera. Learn more or sign up at https://www.sistersfolkfest.org/asa
