One of Central Oregon’s most unique winter traditions returns this December as pianist and composer Paula Dreyer brings her celebrated Solstice Ski Concert back to the Virginia Meissner Sno-Park on Saturday, December 20, offering two candlelit, glow-filled evening performances.
Set against a backdrop of snowy pines, quiet trails, and the warm glow of the Meissner lodge, this immersive winter concert invites guests to experience live piano music in a unique way that blurs the line between indoor comfort and the wonder of the high desert night.
Audience members may choose to listen acoustically inside the lodge—tucked by the fire with a warm beverage—or venture outdoors using wireless headphones, allowing the music to accompany them as they ski or snowshoe under the twilight sky.
Skiing is dependent on snowfall, but snowshoeing or walking will always be an option—and regardless of conditions, the trails will be illuminated with candles, creating the signature Solstice glow. Headlamps, creative costumes, and glow-in-the-dark attire are enthusiastically encouraged, adding to the whimsical and celebratory spirit.
Concertgoers can expect an intimate, atmospheric performance of Dreyer’s original piano compositions, known for their meditative quality, as well as intricate covers and timeless holiday classics. Many Solstice shows also feature a live painter, interpreting the performance in real time and adding a visual layer to the experience.
“Meissner in the winter is already magical—but when you pair candlelight, snow, movement, and live piano, something truly unforgettable happens,” says Dreyer. “It’s one of my favorite events of the year.”
Two performances will be offered on Dec. 20:
5–6 PM — Twilight glow
7–8 PM — Moonlit ambiance
Tickets are expected to sell out quickly.
