The Open Arts Center is proud to present The Rachel Binah Gallery Dedication Art Show, a special exhibition honoring the extraordinary life and ongoing legacy of artist, environmental activist, mentor, and philanthropist Rachel Binah. The exhibition will be on view throughout August and September 2026, with an opening reception on First Friday, August 7, from 5:00–7:00 PM with dedication ceremony starting at 5:30pm.
The dedication celebrates Rachel’s remarkable contributions—not only as a lifelong artist, but also as an environmental advocate, Democratic National Committee member, mentor to countless young people, and generous supporter whose donation helped make the Open Arts Center possible.
Guests are invited to experience a collection of Rachel’s distinctive mixed-media works that reflect both her artistic vision and her lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship. Her work transforms discarded and everyday materials into thoughtful, textured compositions that challenge viewers to reconsider waste, beauty, and our impact on the natural world.
Rachel’s pieces combine paper with unexpected materials such as reclaimed plastics, window screening, Tyvek, roofing tiles, fabric, and paint. Each work is hand-stitched using intentionally rustic techniques with twine, ribbon, or wire, extending beyond traditional rectangular forms to create organic, sculptural compositions. Through these unconventional materials and methods, Rachel invites viewers to see possibility and renewal in what others might overlook.
The exhibition is both a celebration of Rachel’s artistic achievements and an acknowledgment of the lasting impact she has made on the Bend community and beyond.
Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to:
● Explore a retrospective collection of Rachel’s mixed-media artwork spanning more than two decades.
● Learn about her artistic process and environmental philosophy
● Celebrate the dedication of the Rachel Binah Gallery
● Listen to live music and participate in interactive art stations inspired by Rachel’s work
● Connect with the Open Arts Center community during First Friday Art Walk
The opening reception is free and open to the public. Community members of all ages are invited to celebrate Rachel’s living legacy and experience the inaugural exhibition in the newly dedicated gallery space.
