Discover Your Northwest, the nonprofit partner of the Deschutes National Forest, is hosting the annual Winter Volunteer Information Night in late October for people interested in volunteering to support winter conservation education and naturalist programming on the Deschutes National Forest.

The event will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at the Deschutes National Forest Headquarters, 63095 Deschutes Market Road, in Bend. The event focuses on recruiting volunteers to serve as education and interpretive volunteer rangers.

Winter volunteer rangers represent the Forest Service at Mt. Bachelor in the Deschutes National Forest. Opportunities include teaching in the conservation education program and/or leading guided snowshoe tours. Volunteers receive uniforms and training. Volunteers are requested to commit to at least one day per week from mid-December through the end of March 2027.
