Competing at the 2025 USA Swimming National
Championship meet in Indianapolis, Campbell McKean won the men’s 50 Meter Breaststroke event
with a time of 26.90 seconds. The win qualifies McKean for Team USA which will compete at the
World Championships in Singapore beginning July 26, 2025.

McKean, a graduating senior at Caldera High School, was unable to attend his High School
graduation in order to compete in the National Championship meet. “Being able to compete for a spot
on the World Championship team provided an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” said McKean. “My
teammates, family and coach’s support during my career with the Bend Swim Club has given me the
opportunity to represent my country.” McKean is committed to swim at the University of Texas, which
he will attend after his return from the World Championships in Singapore.

Coach Jim Nickell was in attendance to witness McKean’s victory in Indianapolis. “Campbell’s
dedication to improve each day was displayed during his race. It is truly an honor to watch him grow
and improve each time he enters the pool,” said Nickell. Nickell has been the head coach for the
Bend Swim Club for nearly a year, helping guide four swimmers to NCAA swimming scholarships.
These include, McKean (University of Texas); Hadley Hayes (University of Wyoming); Landon
Egeland (University of San Diego) and Holden Short (California Baptist University).

McKean’s victory came a day after his 6th place finish in the 200 Meter Breaststroke on Wednesday
evening. He has two more events to swim at the National Championships including the 100 Meter
Breaststroke and 200 Meter Individual Medley. USA Swimming’s National Championship meet
continues through Saturday June 7, 2025 at the Indiana University Natatorium.
