Central Oregon’s most scenic adventure is back for its fourth year! The Big Butte Challenge invites hikers, runners, and beer-lovers alike to take on 9+ iconic buttes and celebrate each summit with a cold craft pint from local breweries. This self-paced summer challenge kicks off May 23rd and runs through October 1st.
Whether you’re climbing for the views or the brews (or both!), the Big Butte Challenge offers the perfect excuse to get outside, explore new trails, and raise a glass to Oregon’s wild side. Participants complete the hikes on their own schedule, then head to each partner brewery for a complimentary beer to toast their success.
New this year! More Buttes, More Brews, More Fun
Last season’s popular additions, Vista Butte and Tam-A-Lau Trail, are officially here to stay—bringing even more awe-inspiring scenery to the lineup. And because we just can’t help ourselves, another butte and brew pairing may be added mid-season. Already registered? Any new hikes will automatically be included in your challenge—bonus beer token included.
Launch Party at Bend Brewing Co. on May 22
Kick off the challenge in style at our Packet Pickup & Launch Party. Details as follows:
-Where: Bend Brewing Company
-When: Thursday, May 22, 4–7 PM
-What: live music, giveaways, bonus pints, and good vibes with fellow challengers before hitting the trails.
Can’t make it? No worries—starting May 23, packets can also be picked up any time throughout The Challenge at The Haven Coworking (Mon–Fri, 8 AM–5 PM).
