Sales of missing middle home types in Hayden Homes’ new 37-acre Parkside Place community on Bend’s eastside are now live at www.hayden-homes.com with move-ins beginning this fall.

Home prices in the Parkside Place community will start at $474,990 for the Darrington plan, a 1,395 square foot family-friendly 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath, 2-car garage home. That’s more than 35% lower than Bend’s current median home price of $750,000, according to Zillow. In time, the housing mix in the community will include options across a broad housing continuum including multi-family, single-family attached and detached, and alley-load options.

Many homes in the community will be affordable for a hard-to-reach demographic of families earning up to 100% of Area Median Income in Bend–an exceptionally difficult market to target in Bend’s hot housing market. This means prices will be more affordable to nurses, teachers, service workers and other key members of our community’s workforce who are often priced out of the homeownership market. (*See below for detailed affordability calculations as defined by the US Housing and Urban Development Department.)

The affordability achieved at Parkside Place is a direct result of an innovative multi-year public-private partnership between Hayden Homes and the City of Bend made possible by HB 4079, passed in 2016. This community will help to meet Oregon Housing Needs Analysis goals for Bend that outline the need to build 7,474 new homes for the 81-120% AMI income level over the next 20 years.

“Parkside Place has achieved a level of affordability for Central Oregon families that is almost unheard of in our community today,” said Brett Swanson, regional director of Hayden Homes. ”When government and market rate builders collaborate, we can create life-changing affordable homeownership opportunities, and we’re so excited for the families who will soon make this new community their home.”

The launch of Parkside Place is the first time in several years that Hayden Homes has opened a new community in Bend. Throughout the buildout of the neighborhood the focus will remain on inclusivity and connectivity to nearby services, schools, restaurants, St. Charles Medical Center, and commercial centers, fostering integration into the growing vibrancy of Bend’s eastside.
