Sick of the claustrophobic greasy cloud of sunscreen, fellow sun bunnies?  It drips into your eyes if you’re active and sweating and sometimes has a pasty white sheen, but in Bend sun protection is mandatory.   The other problem is the way it makes you feel like you’re being buried alive.

Bend Can Do Better By Its Animals

Dog Fancy Magazine just voted Bend The Nationโ€™s Dog Friendliest City 2012. Itโ€™s a title that we should be proud of, but is it accurate? We certainly love our dogs (and cats) we have great off-leash areas, trails and canine friendly businesses. We use their images to advertise our products and sell our newspapers. Yet,โ€ฆ

A Solution in Search of a Problem

1. Just because someone operates a vacation rental at their rural (2.5 acre) home, doesn’t mean that it is marring the neighborhood, or creating a safety hazard.ย  In fact, it appears that a small pond, gazebo, fire pit, and pasture filled with wildflowers and honeybee boxes would be an improvement to many rural areas.ย  Theโ€ฆ

Buehler Dials Up a Gimmick Play

In the parlance of politics, a โ€œgimmickโ€ is a sneaky ploy your opponent resorts to. When you do it, itโ€™s called โ€œtaking a statesmanlike position.โ€ Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown, a Democrat, and Knute Buehler, the Bend Republican whoโ€™s trying to get her job, have been trading jabs over each otherโ€™s alleged gimmickry recently.โ€ฆ

Y’all Gotta Try This New Food Cart: Yo Momma’s Country Cookin’

Yo Mammas Country Cookin’ gets an enthusiastic two thumbs up from us. We just had lunch here and it was amazing—it met all my suther’n expectations. Co-owner Lisa Maraschiello, who hails from the hills of western North Carolina, clearly knows the ways of traditional Dixie dishes. Unlike most traditional southern staples, however, Yo Mamma’s fixin’sโ€ฆ

Sara Jackson-Holman, felt a bit like a nomad.ย  She was trying to write a second album among the Central Oregon ponderosa while flitting off to Portland any chance she got. Muth Sings the Staples: Country music with a NW blue collar twist

Zoe Muth is a rare and rustic musical goddess. A beautiful blonde woman with a guitar who writes cowboy ballads about broken dreams, stiff whiskey drinks and lonely hearts. Kombucha Love: Make your own new flavor

I have to admit it; some people think it tastes like fermented garbage, but Iโ€™m a huge kombucha fan. Itโ€™s the earthy taste mixed with effervescence and the lift I get afterwards. Bullets of Joy

Iโ€™m feeling a bit insecure right now. As regular readers of I Love Televisionโ„ข know, Iโ€™ve made a career out of sexual and occasionally violent shenanigans.
