LSA Off the Hook (partially) on Noise Ordinance

The Bend City Council is taking some flak after approving a new noise ordinance last night giving the city manager the right to waive parts of the rules and exempting the Les Schwab Amphitheater from the law during daytime hours. It was a 6-1 vote with Jim Clinton opposed.

African Photo Safari

It is a funny feeling when you see your first Elephant in the wild after a long Journey from Bend to Namibia. Waiting at the famous waterhole of  Okaukuejo in Namibia’s stunning Etosha National Park  we had our cameras ready for any upcoming highlights.

Just Admit It, Mitt

With scissors in hand, 18-year old Mitt Romney led a posse of six fellow prep school seniors (including the schoolโ€™s wrestling champion) in an assault on John Lauber, the schoolโ€™s nonconformist. Five of the assailants have recalled the incident with regret, calling it a โ€œvicious hack jobโ€ and โ€œa senseless, stupid, idiotic thing to do.

Peace and Quiet Awaits on the Eastside

To all of those westside noise bemoaners, I have a simple proposition for you. I am willing to trade you straight across, my eastside abode for yours. I don’t care about the size or condition of your house, I’m just looking to get back to the neighborhood that I was priced out of about eightโ€ฆ

Trickery and Deceit: Snow White and the Huntsman is too Grimm for its own good

First-time Director Rupert Sanders creates a Ridley Scott-like (see above) vision with a non-stop onslaught of different lands and sets of CGI greatness. Thereโ€™s an impressive Dark Forest with its twisting gnarled branches, nasty monstrous troll and clams that ooze motor oil. The Enchanted Forest is something altogether spectacular with its fairies, mushrooms-with-bulging- eyeballs andโ€ฆ

Ode to My Thong

YAY!! Summerโ€™s here! And that means two things: 1) Thereโ€™s an anus-load of new TV shows to watch, and 2) my thong finally gets to emerge from hibernation! (Naturally, number two is far more important than number one, which is why Iโ€™ll spend the bulk of this column talking about number two.) Oh thong, howโ€ฆ
