Scoutpost To make a burger extraordinary, each component needs to be perfect. At Scoutpost—named our 2018 Food Cart of the Year— they really nail it. The toasted potato bun is flaky and soft, the edges crispy. The grass-fed beef patty is well seasoned, the cheddar cheese is creamy and the caramelized onions are a bit sweet. So are the house-made bread and butter zucchini pickles. The lettuce is super crisp, the poblano harissa is spicy, and you can taste the smokiness in the bacon. This burger has incredible depth of flavor, just messy enough to keep you eating. You won’t want to put it down anyway. 310 SW Industrial Way, Bend 541-904-5005 scoutpostbend.com Credit: Lisa Sipe // Source Weekly
Dandy’s Drive-In The Double Dandy is the best fast food burger in Bend. It’s completely different than the other gourmet burgers on this list, but equally delicious—and bonus, it’s reasonably priced. The Double Dandy has a juicy ground chuck patty, crispy bacon, melted cheddar cheese, tomatoes, pickles, special sauce and shredded lettuce on a soft bun. Dandy’s is an old time drive-in, so it’s cash only and customers stay in the car while servers on roller skates take orders and deliver meals. 1334 NE 3rd St., Bend 541-382-6141 facebook.com/Dandys-Drive-In-102235203153424 Credit: Lisa Sipe // Source Weekly
Drake Beer cheese and the option of pork belly or roasted bone marrow added to your delicious burger, served in a hip spot in Bend’s downtown? Yes, please. Drake, located on one of the busiest intersections in Bend, is a hot spot for drinks and food of all types, but the burger is also top of mind when creating one of these awesome lists. Go there, and then check out its sister spot, Washington, also with great burgers. 801 NW Wall St., Bend 541-306-3366 drakebend.com Credit: submitted
Next Level Burger The plant-based burger revolution is upon us and Next Level Burger is leading the charge. Even meat eaters can get down with these hearty, savory burgers, made with the Beyond Burger-brand patties that taste a lot like the “real thing.” With many inventive options, including a Signature burger with roasted garlic, thyme, avocado and cheese—along with many other options, this spot is well worth a visit. 70 SW Century Dr. #120, Bend 541-306-6778 nextlevelburger.com Credit: Source Staff
The Rogue Chef Simply put, this food cart’s burger is a masterpiece. A well-seasoned Wagyu beef patty is layered with sweet, smoky bacon, sautéed mushrooms and Maker’s Mark onions. If that wasn’t enough flavor, there’s also lettuce, tomato, fresh onion and peppercorn aioli with a hint of lemon on an airy brioche bun. The cheddar cheese pools over the sides of this messy, almost-too-tall-to-fit-in-your-hands burger. 19860 7th St., Tumalo 541-647-0093 theroguechef.kitchen Credit: Jean Straight // submitted
