Ah, summer. It’s hot, it’s smoky and it’s fleeting. For those looking to enjoy the fruits of the season before it gets away, here are a few upcoming food-and-drink events — heavy on the drink side — to get on your calendar right now.

Aug. 15: Viaggio Chef’s Dinner and Wine Pairing

Viaggio Wine Merchants has invited Chef Adrien Calmels back for a second round of chef’s dinners, this one featuring a 10-course late-summer menu alongside Viaggio wines. The event is $160 and reservations are available by emailing info@viaggiowine.com.

Aug. 21: Billecart-Salmon Champagne Tasting Seminar

Billecart-Salmon isn’t a fish-related thing; rather, it’s one of the most iconic family-owned production outfits in France. At this event, held at Viaggio Wine Merchant, patrons can sample five exceptional champagnes. The fun goes from 5:30 to 7pm. Sign up at viaggiowine.com/events-offerings.

Aug. 15 & 22: Destination Dinner Series at FivePine

The Sisters hotel and event center is partnering with five local farms and ranches for its series that takes inspiration from around the world. Two more dates are left in the series for the season, including Indian-inspired flavors on Aug. 15 and Mediterranean flavors on Aug. 22. The family-style main course at the Indian evening includes Samosa Chaat, Grilled Bone-In Chicken, rice and naan, with sweet milk dumplings served for dessert. At Mediterranean night Aug. 22, look for Citrus Brined Lamb, summer veggies and a tomato & cucumber salad, along with a Honey Pistachio Olive Oil Cake with Citrus Cream. Aug. 22 & 29: Tastings at Put a Cork In It

Put a Cork In It, the far-west-side wine bar that just celebrated its one-year anniversary, has two upcoming wine events to check out. On Aug. 22 is a tasting from Cop!ious Cellars from Santa Cruz, California. Try a White Blend, Viognier, Grenache Rosé and a GSM from 3 to 8pm. Then on Aug. 29 is a tasting of wines from Coyote Canyon Winery from south central Washington state. That event takes place from 3 to 7pm. Each tasting is $20, with fees waived when you buy two bottles or more.
