PB: Still the Burger KingPilot Butte Drive-In

916 NE Greenwood Ave. Come for the food, stay for the unintentionally Rockford Files cool retro dรฉcor. This Bend institution is home to the 18-ounce burger: Eat the whole thing, and your photo goes in the scrapbook, a la John Candy in The Great Outdoors.

Tastee Treat

493 NE 3rd St. Prineville. Yes, those are the locals glaring at you from inside. But don’t worry, they don’t bite. The Tastee Treat is complete with a neon ice cream cone on top and horseshoe-shaped lunch counter and an atmosphere that’s only lacking Flo and Mel. TT offers a selection of hard and soft ice cream treats, as well as burgers and deep fried things.

Dandy’s Drive-In

1334 NE 3rd St. I’m not much for gimmicks with my meal, but when your gimmick is chicks on roller skates, I’m in. It doesn’t hurt that the burgers are hot and juicy.

Jody’s Drive In Restaurant

807 SW 14th St., Redmond. You won’t find much in the way of seating at Jody’s, save a picnic table out front in the summer months. But this drive-up serves up one of Redmond’s best burgers. The fact it arrives in a paper sack only adds to the attraction.

Sno-Cap Drive In

1053 NW 6th St., Redmond. Burgers cut down the middle are burgers done right at Sno-Cap, a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. This guilty pleasure is just what the doctor ordered after a few hours on the river and a regular stop for Hwy. 97 travelers. Wash it down with a homemade shake and side of fries.

Sno Cap Ice Cream

380 W. Cascade St., Sisters. While the beef may not be on par with some of others this hopping hamburger stand is an institution in Sisters and must-stop for weary summer travelers. The fantastic ice cream and malts don’t hurt. – Ric E. James

  1. If you make the trip to Prineville, make sure you order Tastee Treat French Fries. I promise you won’t find a better french fry. You’ll need a napkin to clean your hands when you’re done.

  2. If you like fish and chips, you should definately try it, its the best in town! No doubt!

  3. Fish and Chips at Sno-Cap in Redmond!!! The best, as well as everything else. The environment is great, employees are friendly and the owners are wonderful. If you haven’t tried it you should, if it’s been a while, go back and if your a regular, keep going!!
